Pine Cone Lily

I was introduced to a new flower over the Thanksgiving holiday.  It is a Pine Cone Lily.  It is a tuber, grows on a very fleshy stem with narrow, long green foliage and has a rather sweet aroma.  The Pine Cone itself is very heavy and is squishy with lots of water; if you squeeze it you will get sprayed!
The pale bluish-lavendar flowers are Hydrangea.

Goodwill Christmas Shop

Some of the ornaments I bought at the Goodwill Christmas Shop. Friday everything was 50% off..
I bought two bags full of red ornaments. My tree might be all red this year!

The Day After

It's the day after Thanksgiving and I am still full!!!!  Could probably go the rest of the week without eating! As I have consumed a weeks worth of calories...but it sure was good. My son-in-law is making some Turkey soup today, so that will be our dinner with left overs.  YUMYum..

I have been out shopping on "Black Friday", however, I did not do the midnight things nor the early am sales. I made  it to Target about ten. Found what I wanted so maybe it was luck.  It's good to get some more Christmas shopping done. Kinda gets you in the Christmas spirit when you are out in the crowds and hearing Christmas music and seeing  Christmas decorations. We are actually in the city!!!

Giving Thanks

Here are two Bible verses that I think are aprapo to Thanksgiving or any time for that matter!

1 Thessalonians--5:18---Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in
Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 13:16---Do not forget to do good and share with others, for which sacrifices God
is Pleased.

Giving Thanks at Thanksgiving!

This is the best time of the year! We get a little nostalgic and we recall memories from Thanksgiving's past! I can remember my parents making the stuffing and poking it in
that big ole' bird! We always had a huge turkey! I loved the aroma from all the good stuff
being cooked! There was always a debate about how long to cook the bird to make sure it
was cooked to perfection. Turkey and stuffing! Mother's great turkey gravy. Yummy! Can't wait to get to this years feast! Besides the turkey and stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, orange cranberry relish, cole slaw, and Grandma's fresh baked yeast rolls...lots of butter melted on them. For desert a lovely pumpkin pie, apple pie, a cake of some kind, icecream, and other delectable sweets brought by family members. Gallons of sweet icetea and later coffee with desert. Does all this sound too good? We are very fortunate to be able to sit
down at our tables and partake of this feast. Be thankful and remember those who are not
so fortunate. Be thankful for your family, those who are present and those who are no longer
with us, tell them how much you love them! Give them all a big hug!
Smiles and Blessings! and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Creative Christmas Ornaments

Today is my day off and I have been creating! Yeahhhh!!!! So much fun! I completed the snowman ornament and started some others. The first are tags that I covered with snow paper,
added the snowflakes, ribbons and lace. I also added a little glitter! The circular ones are paper mache that came from Michael's..the wonder store!!! These are also covered with paper, and
snowflakes, glitter, and lace. Some of these will go along with the snowman to their new owner!
Can't wait to see what comes my way! Have a great day and get creating! it will make you feel
good.

Snowman ornament swap

Here's the snowman I've been working on for the swap.
He's still not quite finished, but don't you think he's cute? You start out with three styrofoam balls...
Largest on bottom, then smaller as you go up! I used wooden skewers between each to help hold them
together and added some glue as well. When all that was dry I covered them all with molding paste, you
could use the snow texture, then sprinkled with glitter all over. His nose is a small piece of the skewer,
painted orange, glued into face. There are three buttons down his front, also glued on. His neck piece is
some silver garland. His hat is cone from paper. The eyes and mouth are applied with a piece of stiff wire
dipped in black acrylic paint. Still need arms and I need to glue on his hat and add the hanger. MORE to come!

Veterans Day Wednesday, November 11, 2009

GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Let us remember all veterans, those who gave their life for their country so that we may all live free.
Remember those who served for many years and retired, who kept us safe. Pray for all the men and
women in our military who are keeping us safe today. Pray for the fallen at Fort Hood who died needlessly,
that they will be remembered forever for the life they lived. All these men and women who courageously
defend our country and our constitution, that this land will remain free!

Art Piece

This is my latest art piece done in mixed media and collage. I sewed all the pieces of fabric
together and added the red heart with the words "made with". It is all glued to an 8x10 canvas
board. I still don't have the hanger yet as I can't decide what I want to use....ribbon, lace, buttons
etc...will look at it some more! It will eventually show up in my etsy shop. Will let you know when it is complete.
