Maclay Gardens, Tallahasseee

A few Spring Flowers from Maclay Gardens in Tallahassee, Florida.
Today is the most beautiful day here.
More than one hundred years ago this land was a working plantation.
Alfred Maclay, a wealthy New York financier, bought the site in 1923 for a winter home and began planting his gardens.
Set among huge live oaks and towering pines, the garden paths
are lined with an outstanding collection of Camellias, Azaleas, Oriental Magnolias and other ornamentals.
Over 1000 acres of park land surrounding the Gardens offer recreational sites for swimming, boating, fishing and family
picnics.
Miles of forest trails for hiking, jogging, bicycling and horse back riding travel around pristine Lake Overstreet, Gum Pond,
and deep wooded ravines.
If you are anywhere near this area it is a wonderful place to spend some time and enjoy all this natural beauty.
It is lovely!

SPRING IS HERE? MAYBE....

Today is a beautiful day here in Central Florida. It feels like Spring has arrived! and it is very welcome.
I think this winter was the worst we have had in many years. The cold was just too cold and much too long in duration. I plan on soaking up some sunshine this afternoon!
I did some errands this morning in town, and had an appt at the beauty salon! Hair and nails done and I am ready for my jaunt to North Florida, where I hope Spring has also arrived!
I can say, that with the little rain we have had here, my grass is beginning to take on the color of green!
It has been brown a very long time!!!

Have a great day all you bloggers out there!
Come back and visit me any time.

Artist Brushes

This is a purchase I made at Michael's on Saturday. I found these on the clearance aisle.
The regular cost of these four brushes was $50.00, but on sale, I got all four at a cost of $11.00!
So when you go to Michael's don't forget to check out the clearance items...there is always some
good stuff there!

Smiles and Blessings,
Have a great week!

Posted by PicasaArt Quilting Studio Magazine..this is an amazing mag. If you know  Dawn from the
Feathered Nest Blog, there is an article she wrote with pics of her art pieces, that is
excellent. Her art work is really beautiful. I know these magazines are pricey, but it is
one that you will keep in your library for reference. It is full of pics of great art quilts.
I love this!

Beautiful Spring Day!!!

Wow!  Today looks and feels like Spring has arrived! BUT, I did hear from someone in town, that rain is
expected tomorrow. Oh, Well, we definitely need rain. It will help all that green start to pop! I can't wait
to see some green! My camellia bush has been blooming a few days. Maybe I can snap a pic and add to my
post.  It is outside my front door. I so want to get some plants for the two planters at the front, but I wanted
to wait to make sure the cold has gone for this winter. I guess that will be a week end project.  Will run to
town and see what is blooming! and bring some home.

Single Camellia Bush

These are the pics of my camellia bush...I didn't realize it looked so pathetic! I guess it has been blooming longer than a few days, by the looks of all the petals on the ground! It's funny how we become accustomed to seeing something every day, and then you take a closer look and you are surprised!!!

Have a great day!

March!

March has made  it's appearance! It seems to be coming in like a lion, so let's hope it goes out like a lamb!
It has been chilly and windy here with some rain as the cold front went thru.
Today we have lots of sun with a chilly wind.
Spring can't come soon enough for me!
It will be a beautiful sight to see green trees, grass and bushes once again. I'm tired of the
dreary drab brown! So bring it on!

Hope you are having a wonderful sunny day!

Signs of Spring Bunnies

I thought I would share these pics with you all since they are signs spring is on the way!
These pictures of the Spring Bunnies were taken by my daughter, Karen, in her back yard.
There are actually three baby bunnies..she said they would fit in the palm of your hand.
She first saw one, and then it led her to a nest with two more babies.
Aren't they cute?

Have a great day and  think Spring!
